Basics

I will post as much info i can type that i can think of. (keep in mind i copy and pasted this from a Half EO Forum W/O Editing)

Make sure that all commonly used actions are accessed easily and comfortably.
I use arrow keys to move, num pad to switch weapons, left mouse to fire, right mouse to jump, middle mouse to boost, shift is altfire, ctrl is crouch, and backspace is suicide.

Your setup doesnt matter, whats important is you memorize where everything is located and you are able to react as quick as possible.

Field of View:
FOV is suggestive, and all that matters is what fits best with your playstyle.
To change your fov open your consol and type: fov "#"
Default is 90.
In this game everything is 2 Fold, an advantage can also Cripple you.
Think of Field of View as your own eyes, specificly how they are located on your head. Like a Frog.

PROS VS CONS

FOV = Lower
See Farther(Zoom Lense)
Game Perspective Slows Down(more time to react)
Decrease in your Peripheral Vision(you can see far but you lose the ability to see out of the corner of your eyes more and more the lower you get, allowing people to sneek up on you)

FOV = Higher
Increase in Peripheral Vison(imagine your eyes where your ears are, you can see around you better)
Decreased Vision(Reverse Zoom Lense)
Game Perspective Increases(less time to react)

My Style is Partialy about my Reaction time and Aim, so for me a Lower FOV is best, My FOV is 80
FYI 80 is the lowest FOV most servers will allow, anything lower doesnt get imputed.

Mouse Sensitivity:
Default 3.00
Lower = Slower moving Cursor.
Higher = Faster moving Cursor.

Again its all about how you play your own style. There isnt much on this end i can say to you its all suggestive.
Because this is Half EO, a very fast paced Mod you need to be able to target anything within your reaction time. And as such in my oppinion whatever you decide, if you have a steady hand, make sure that when holding your mouse near the end of your Mouse Pad, and you move to the other, your View turns 180degrees(before your looking forward after you are looking out your back). Thats thats important.

Game Settings:

World Texture Detail = Anything, aslong as it doesnt effect your Frames Per Second.
Skin Detail = High as Possible.(helps with aim and locating your enemy)
Decals = NO, it only serves as a Distraction.
Dynamic Lighting = YES, makes the flag glow allowing you to find flag carrier easier.
Weapon Hand = If possible make it hidden, some people need to see the gun to help aim. Like me.
Gore Level = Same as Decals
Weapon Flash = No, Distraction.
Audio = Remove Auto Taunts, Lower Anouncer Volume to 0, everything else is up to you.
Hud = Change the Cursor Color to something other than White, Black, Red, and Blue, to avoid Clashing Colors. I Suggest Green.

Options: - Weapons: - Auto-Switch Weapons = NO

At anytime, if you want to do a more indepth Change to your Settings, open Consol and type: Preferences, the game will Minimize and open a new Window.

Binds:
Beyond the basics, Binds are not a big help. For the OSA Server, aslong as you have these you should be fine.

To do most of these Open your System Folder for UT and Open User.ini
Default Path = C:\UnrealTournament\System\User.ini
Note the Keys are Examples.(the ones i use)

V=MUTATE BDBMAPVOTE VOTEMENU (Forces open the Mapvote Menu)
Backspace=Suicide
MiddleMouse=DoubleJump | Jump | AltFire (This is the Bind for Boosting, Take out the Ripper #6 and look at the Ground or a Wall and push it, you will alt fire and jump at the same time performing a basic boost.)

Beyond these there are a few more that can help if your willing to put the time into Decideing location and Memorization.

Delete=TeamSay %P I have %H & %A
For any Server with PURE loaded these commands will tell your team only your.
%P Location
%H Health
%A Armor

Afterwords you would add what you believe to be important, Examples:
Im Full, Standing Next To You, Pass Me The Flag If Injured
I Have The Flag, Im Safe, Get Ours Back
Get Ready to Score, Chasing Enemy Flag Carrier
Enemy Flag Carrier Dead, Flag Returned in 5 4 3

Lastly are Aliases, the most complicated of all.
You can Aliase almost anything you want, problem is more and more of them are being blocked by servers.
The Only important Aliase left in my oppinion is Clear Water. Which as you would guess, makes the Water Crystal Clear, except for the top layer. You cant even tell your in water unless you look up.

There are many Binds to do many different things, i will post alli know in a different Topic.
I will Discuss Team Play and Play Style in another Topic.

Re: Basics

I'm curious as to if you can answer how come when I go to the FUN server, all this works except that my xloc gets KTFO. I asked and they said they have nothing set up to block xloc piping, but it gets switched off everytime on their server.
